Just in time to make your "Best of 2004" list! 'B-Ball Music' by Popular Shapes is now available,
please head right over to the catalog to order a copy or wait until your favorite
distribution has some. The vinyl looks fantastic, worth every painful bit of debt.
Speaking of the end of the year, Adam Strohm over at Dusted Magazine mentions both
Pay Toilets and Air Conditioning while reflecting over the last twelve months. If you don't
believe me, you can read it here: http://www.dustedmagazine.com/features/323

Quick update, as the holidays are upon us:
The Gate Crashers LP is now available, both in the catalog here and elsewhere. A bunch
of brand new tracks and I think it turned out pretty great.
Barnacled have recorded a new album, and it's fantastic! The most aggro Barnacled material
I've heard yet, I think there are even some blast beats in there! And as always, some of the
finest brass and accordion around. I'm not sure who will be releasing this, but I will be
sure to spread the word once I know! And hopefully I'll have copies of it as well.
Here are the dates for the upcoming Pay Toilets shows, they'll be traveling to some of my
favorite cities on the East Coast. Enjoy!
Wednesday 1/12/05, Pittsburgh, PA @ The Mr. Roboto Project w/ Yowie, Conelrad, Yes Collapse
Thursday 1/13/05, Allentown, PA @ Jeff The Pigeon w/ Yowie, Conelrad
Friday 1/14/05, Providence, RI @ Redrum w/ Yowie, Conelrad, Athletic Automaton, The Fuzz
Saturday 1/15/05, New York, NY @ TBA / Yowie, Conelrad, Zs
Time to wrap some more presents and shake my head in disgust at Eli Manning. Oh, it's not
yet confirmed, but early 2005 might see the release of a very limited, very great Air Conditioning
single! We'll see!

Air Conditioning just performed at Jeff the Pigeon with Otesanek last Thursday,
I would've been there but I was expecting Seth to get punched on The OC (which
happens next week, apparently). Tonight they are playing "somewhere" in Philadelphia
as part of a collaborative set with members of Otesanek. If I get a phone call with
directions, I'll be there!
Popular Shapes single hit a snag with the center sticker art, this should be resolved shortly
and the record will be available before 2005. I can't wait!
For all readers who will be somewhere in Australia in the next few days, members of Menstruation
Sisters will be debuting some new art for you to view, along with buddies of theirs involved in something
called "Rancid Shit Wank". I can only imagine! Anyway, this stuff is great, you can check it out
on this flyer for their show.
Last update I mentioned that I will be doing a Leprechaun Catering record. If you aren't familiar
with these guys, I suggest you check out MP3s off their debut album at the Ehse Records website. Great
stuff all around! It's almost enough to make me want to visit Baltimore. Only foolin'!www.ehserecords.com
Pay Toilets are hitting the road in early January, sharing shows with Conelrad and Yowie. They'll be
at Jeff the Pigeon on January 13th, I look forward to getting knocked down by them in person. I'll post
the other dates once I have them! I'm pretty sure they will be headed to New York.
Here's hoping Terrell Owens breaks a leg today!

To quote Staind, it's been a while! But that's okay, because things are great.
Last Saturday, Jeff the Pigeon witnessed one of its most exciting shows yet. Don't
believe me? Take a look at Verwustung and Leprechaun Catering
pictures from their respective sets. Beer was spilled, toilet paper was hurled, shirts
were removed and smiles were everlasting. I am going to be incredibly sad when Jeff the Pigeon
closes its doors.
Speaking of the show, it basically sold the deal for me on Leprechaun Catering! Already a huge
fan of their LP on Heresee, witnessing their frantic, pipe-puffed antics was more than I could
handle to remain an ordinary fan. White Denim is happy to announce that we'll be releasing their next
full-length vinyl record in 2005! Until then, do your best to seek out their debut, as the 300 copies
pressed are sure to filter out and slowly end up on greedy want lists the world round. They are also
in the process of self-releasing a compact disc, I'll be sure to provide updates as needed. Seriously,
don't sleep!
Popular Shapes EP is on course, I still listen to these songs at least once a week. I know Brad at
Hate the Eighties does the same. I know you will too, once you get the record.
Have you listened to the Menstruation Sisters track off their White Denim single yet? Careful, it might
turn your laptop into a dirt clod.
Speaking of clods, Pissed Jeans have a couple shows coming up! November 30th we'll be performing at the
Knitting Factory in New York City, and the next night, December 1st, we'll be entertaining the crowd in
a New Brunswick, NJ basement. Both shows will be with The Oath. And since I'm talking about live music, The
Gate Crashers are scheduled for a rare live appearance at The Globe in Bethlehem, PA on November 28th with
Carpenter Ant. I'm surprised I have time to eat.

We missed you even more than you missed us! Lots to report.
Since I can't go two seconds without yapping about something Air Conditioning related,
please go check out this kind little blurb they received in our local herald of the times,
the Morning Call, here.
Speaking of papers, White Denim has finally dipped our toes into the printed ad. Look for it
in the November issue of Arthur Magazine. Curious to see the ad? Click here. Curious to check out
Arthur Magazine? Check out www.arthurmag.com. Curious to know my astrological sign? Email me, baby.
Blastitude recently came through with a handful of new reviews, the Pay Toilets record lucky enough
to be in the bunch. Check it out here! I always appreciate
what the Blastitude bunch has to say.
Now that I've given you enough links to fill your cache and confuse your roommates, I can get you
some record news. The Popular Shapes single, I swear, will be finished before Thanksgiving. Everything
is completed, we're just waiting on a postal delivery and the kindness of our Czech pals. These songs
are incredible! Imagine if Wire were born with modems in their spines and short-circuited after 'Pink Flag', or
if every good Killed By Death group from Australia melted their singles together and played it on 78. Oddly
enough, the Menstruation Sisters single should be out by the New Year as well! It's completed and currently
circling around the globe. An MP3 will be available shortly for appetite whetting. Did you know that Menstruation
Sisters had a remix CD out? Me neither.

All sold out of Air Conditioning / Carpenter Ant split 7"s, you'll have to bug the band

their Level Plane disc here! I bet their LP on White Denim would get at least double that.
The debut Pay Toilets record has been consistently hitting the "Top 30" list at KDVS in

Whoomp! It's Friday night and I'm choking on the Nag Champa I just lit. Lots to report!
Air Conditioning just whalloped two of the best sets I've ever seen, one at Jeff the Pigeon,
the other in a 5th floor loft in Boston. Although loading their variety of speaker cabinets
up five rickety flights of stairs was no treat, headbanging side-by-side with the No Doctors
boys was. Mega-super-doody ups to Eloe Omoe for the hospitality! Oh yeah, and Matt of Air
Conditioning has a smashed arm thanks to a Crystal Cock Over Canada mosh pit incident. So
much for college!
The Popular Shapes single is still nearing completion, just waiting for the paint to dry on the
cover art. In the meantime, I suggest you watch this live video of Popular Shapes performing one
of the single's cuts here: http://www.liveeyetv.org/media_video.htm
Menstruation Sisters have recorded for their single, as well as an LP which will foresee some sort
of Australian release. The masters are making the Earth-long journey to my house right now. Those
hoping to stuff the stockings of loved ones may now breathe a deep sigh of relief.
Lastly, I hate to brag, but the fine folks at NGWTT have outdone themselves. I don't know whether
to extend for a hug or bow to the masters when I greet the Friends Forever gang next weekend. Confused?

Pissed Jeans' debut single is available now! I have a handful, and will update the catalog with
it shortly. If you want a copy without waiting, shoot me an email and I'll get you the Paypal information.
Speaking of Pissed Jeans, we will be performing on September 5th at Jeff the Pigeon with Air Conditioning
and Shoplifting, bidding the summer farewell, even though it seems like it only lasted two weeks. Lean back!

After nearly ending up vanless, Air Conditioning have successfully hit the road with Prurient
and Kites. If I knew the dates, I'd share them! Reports of their Baltimore show confirm that it
was "awesome." I believe it! Speaking of A/C, I should be getting copies of their Level Plane opus
in shortly. Wait for that, or order it from borders.com or amazon.com or quiznos.com.
Barnacled performed at Future Friends Fest in Connecticut last weekend. Promises of food, costumes
and swimming were made, let's hope they came through. New Barnacled recordings soon?
Popular Shapes single should be available before October. Never have there been any West Coast dudes
more in tune with the Allentown vibe than the Shapes. Check out one of the tracks on the upcoming
White Denim release here. Incredible!

Not much else to report, except that Jeff the Pigeon has been the place to be in recent weeks. Tarantism,

Welcome back, Mase! There's lots steaming in the White Denim bowl, let me tell you about it.
Both the Pearls and Brass compact disc and Pissed Jeans cassette are no longer available in the
catalog. The P&B disc is nearly out of print (but a repressing is planned), and the Pissed Jeans
7" single on Parts Unknown should be out shortly. You snozzt, you lost.
Speaking of Pissed Jeans, one-time touring buddies Air Conditioning, Kites and Prurient are hitting
the road again! Words can't describe my jealousy as they will be sharing the bill in Texas with Richard
Ramirez and New Orleans with Quintron. I don't have the confirmed dates, but recent conversations
have led me to believe it will take place from August 9th until August 21st. I will happily post
the dates once I have them. And speaking of the Conditioners, their new disc on Level Plane should
be out this week or next! Buy a Leatherman, be prepared.
Speaking of road-hitting, Hair Police will be playing a number of dates with Sonic Youth and Wolf
Eyes in the next few weeks; sadly an Allentown date was not in the forecast. I still wish them the
best of luck and hope that all the "Lollapalooza 04" shirts they printed do not go to waste.
And finally, Nice Nice have gotten a new release entitled 'Awesome' together and surely it does
not lie. It was released on the Collective Jyrk label and I hope to have some copies find their way
to my doorstep soon. Jason from Nice Nice reports that it's their most cohesive release yet. Goosebumps!

Oh no, it's the Hindenburg! Wait, I think it's the Titanic! No, it's much clearer now... it's the
failed Air Conditioning / Prurient / Pissed Jeans tour! So we managed to play the Pittsburgh show
and it was a total blast. Air Conditioning as a 4 piece were brutalizing, and Prurient nearly punched
some kind-hearted fan down a flight of stairs. And then, on the way out of town, the van completely
died. Some of us made the ride home in a wildly swerving U-Haul, others hitched a ride with some
teenage crusties who happened to be nearby. Thankfully, Prurient managed to continue and finish
the tour with Drums of Myrrh, a brand new project featuring 2/4 of the Air Conditioning tour lineup. Described
as "Sunn meets My Bloody Valentine", I wish I would've been able to check it out. Anyway, this is
(thankfully) behind us. My deepest apologies to those disappointed who were expecting our hairy faces,
both showgoers and promoters. Your interest and help means the world to us.
Anyway, let me give you some news. The brown-colored, twelve-inched debut record by Pay Toilets has been met
with uncontrollable laughter by the band themselves and approving nods from most punkers. No diss intended,
but it's selling way faster than expected!
Air Conditioning's debut LP is sold out on our end! The band has the last remaining copies, which won't
be remaining for long. Go see them live, or email the band begging for a mailorder copy. Or, simply wait
for one of the many new Air Conditioning releases to hit the shelves, such as their epic full-length disc
on Level Plane or their 'Mother / Father' themed double CD release on Hospital. This band just keeps getting
rawer and rawer. Scree.
Pearls and Brass are currently looking for a new drummer. If you live in the Philadelphia area and think
you have the Sabians to join one of the tightest rock outfits around, email me! Meanwhile, the new group
Grand Canyon, featuring 2/3 Pearls & Brass and 1/3 Air Conditioning, has been playing out and turning Soul
Planes into astral planes. Like an Earth record on 78 rpm played inside a milkshake.
Popular Shapes are on the road! I just hope they leave their Allentown gig with less blood on their clothes than the Intelligence
did a few months prior. This record will be going to the presses soon! Still making the final cuts and pastes
with the artwork, I'll keep you updated.
Contact with Menstruation Sisters has proven fruitful lately! Rizili of the Sisters emailed stating that they
were hard at work recording over the next few weeks. If it sounds even half as primitive as their other material,
it will surely continue to turn speakers into clay pots. Music for parameciums.
Besides music, White Denim will be relocating to the Fishtown sect of Philadelphia in the next few weeks. The
Allentown mailing address will remain, as will our hearts. Time for a new perspective and to find lots of records
I forgot I had in the moving process. If you live nearby, let me know and I'll invite you over.

For those interested in music on disc rather than in person, I got in a handful of the new 'Sleep

on tour as well.

More White Denim shirts are in the catalog, because the first batch sold much quicker than I ever

Popular Shapes are on tour as soon as Air Conditioning isn't! Check the dates in the shows section,
which I've updated after a short period of neglect. Check out their sweet tour poster here: http://www.gigposters.com/posters.php?poster=29800#
Speaking of Popular Shapes, I have an MP3 from their upcoming White Denim release, just waiting until the single's

Happy Mother's Day! It's been nothing but boxed candy and sunshine here at White Denim. Alright!
Most importantly, here's the news for the upcoming 9 day expedition featuring Air Conditioning, Pissed
Jeans and Load Records recording artist Prurient! This is going to be one wild trek worth checking out!
All shows are with Air Conditioning, Pissed Jeans and Prurient. Anyway, here are the dates:
May 28th - Pittsburgh, PA @ Mr. Roboto w/ Case of Emergency, Adam Social
May 29th - Lexington, KY @ WRFL w/ Walter Carson
May 30th - St. Louis, MO @ Radio Cherokee w/ Skarekrau
May 31st - Nashville, TN @ Springwater w/ Dave Cloud
June 1st - Help! Louisville? Columbus? Your basement?
June 2nd - Bloomington, IN @ House show w/ Russian Tsarcasm
June 3rd - Ann Arbor, MI @ TBA
June 4th - Chicago, IL @ Camp Gay w/ Panicsville, Plague Bringer
June 5th - Detroit, MI @ Detroit Art Space w/ Magas, Les Georges Leningrad
Come out and say hello! There will be fun merchandise, new music, laughter and Clif bars. The new Air
Conditioning CD, Pissed Jeans 7" and a compilation CD-R featuring Air Conditioning all might be available
on this short trip!
The Pay Toilets test pressing sounds excellent! Mastered loud for those with weak speakers, this one-sided
12" record should be out before I hit the road. I look forward to delivering Pay Toilets their share of the
pressing in person!
And on a sour note, my email has been down for the past week or so, for reasons unbeknownst to myself. Hopefully
this can get squared away quickly, as there's nothing finer than a kindly-worded email. Some sort of server
change has put a hiccup on my internetting as of late, let's hope this is the last of it.

Fresh off a great weekend filled with tennis and water ice, White Denim gears up for the Summer months!
The Pay Toilets record has been sent to the presses, I'm hoping to have that in my tan hands before the
end of May. Much like time travel, it'll be worth the wait!
Speaking of new White Denim vinyl, Popular Shapes recorded for the single and it sounds great! Expect
an MP3 up soon. True story: I went to a bar with two members of Popular Shapes a few weeks ago, and
someone yelled "look, it's N*SYNC!" Then we had to stay inside because there was some massive brawl outside.
Tour is coming together like a finely-tailored suit! Unfortunately, Pearls and Brass can no longer come
along, due to a variety of marriages. Here's a list of the confirmed dates, all shows with Air Conditioning
and Pissed Jeans:
Friday, May 28th - Pittsburgh, PA @ TBA
Saturday, May 29th - Lexington, KY @ TBA
Friday, June 4th - Chicago, IL @ Transmission Gallery w/ Panicsville, Plague Bringer
Saturday, June 5th - Detroit, MI @ Detroit Art Space w/ Mammal, Magas, Les Georges Leningrad

Speaking of live music, there are some chill Jeff the Pigeon shows coming up. Saturday, April 3rd, brings
Jack Rose, Ian Nagoski, Glenn Jones and the Complete Strategist to our cold concrete room. Not even a full
week later, and we've got Bastard Noise, the Intelligence, Dark Inside the Sun and Brasilia on Friday, April
9th! Meanwhile, Air Conditioning will be playing at the Pirate's Cove in Allentown on April 2nd and in Baltimore
on April 3rd, both dates with Vincebus Eruptum. If this isn't tempting enough to get you to leave your room,
I'll mail you a gallon of ice cream.
And finally, on a sad note, Black Eyes have called it quits. I'm happy that they were able to do it in such
an amiable and mature fashion, and wish all the members the best of luck with future projects! One of the greatest

Hey gang! I'm still recovering from the social carnival that was No Fun Fest. Too many great bands and
people, not to mention I was completely upside-down, swinging from my ankles at one point during Air Conditioning's set.
The swirling pile of humanity was enough to make my heart smile.
In other Air Conditioning news, I apparently spoke too soon, as I was able to get my hands on a small
stash of Carpenter Ant / Air Conditioning singles. Back in the catalog now. Snatch it up, Drakengard!
Speaking of the catalog, I got in the new single by Sloganboy. Think pre-distortion hardcore along the
lines of Really Red and the Clitboys. Highly recommended! I heard over 100 already sold in Europe, crazy.

bricks like a chorus of snoring schoolbuses. New to the catalog is the debut cassette from Pissed Jeans,
a new band I am happy to be a part of. These ain't no dubbed Walmart tapes, so dig in!
Speaking of both Pissed Jeans and Air Conditioning, a small tour is being worked for both groups along with Pearls
and Brass, travelling in one massive caravan! We will be hitting the road (Midwest and South, mainly) from
May 28th til June 6th, just to get out of the house and try new pizza. If you book shows somewhere along this
course and would like to book an Air Conditioning / Pearls and Brass / Pissed Jeans show, please get in touch!
Speaking of tour, tomorrow Nice Nice leave to play a ton of shows as Cex's backing band. Good lord! I can't

Happy Leap Day! Last night charted one of the most fun and successful Jeff the Pigeon events yet,

all newcomers what Allentown is all about. I also met lots of new smiling faces, from Chester to Miko. Bravo!
Now in the catalog are the first White Denim shirts ever! They turned out pretty fantastic, much praise to
Chris at Square of Opposition for the print job. I already sold a bunch at the show last night, so hurry up and scroll down on the

Hello friends! After a two week hiatus in the chilly North, I'm back and packing all orders
that were placed in the past two weeks. Also, in unfortunate news, White Denim's email provider
crapped out like a soggy toilet while I was away, so I missed any and all email sent to matt at
whitedenim.com. So if you didn't hear from me, resend! Sorry for the confusion and grief that
may have occurred.
Last Friday Philadelphia witnessed both Black Eyes and Air Conditioning in the same room, a magical
night! So great to finally hear the newer Black Eyes material and do some moderate chilling with my
DC friends. As for Air Conditioning, it's a blessing the room didn't cave in under their massive weight.
I was running on 24 hours of sleeplessness, but still noticed the big red Double Decker van on the Turnpike
as I drove home, racing the sunrise.
Speaking of Air Conditioning, they are gearing up for a slew of new product! Not only will their next full-length
disc be released on Level Plane, a picture disc 7" is now confirmed to be released by Electric Human Project! So
great to see people digging the 'Ditioning like I am. Also in the unconfirmed stage is an Air Conditioning split
12", I'll give proper heads up when that is more of a functional organism.
How 'bout them Barnacled! The February issue of the Wire hosts a glowing review, and features Table No 12 in
a Top 15 list, "The Providence Sound." I'm really proud of this single, yet I know it's hardly more than the opening
of an incredible new door for Barnacled. Can't wait to hear their new material!
Pearls and Brass are playing South by Southwest with 25 Suaves, Oakley Hall and the Urinals. Yes, the Urinals! Good
lord, if they are half as punk as they were 20 years ago, I'm going to soak myself knowing that I'm stuck in Pennsylvania.
Speaking of soaking myself, Pissed Jeans recorded our demo, and it sounds great! 5 tracks, 11 minutes, gloomy punk
with both feet crushing dinosaur eggs. I uploaded an MP3, but it got all Oval on me with an undesired skipping sound
throughout. I'm waiting until I get a better version available, but those really curious can email me for the link.
In bogus news, Jeff the Pigeon has nearly been wiped from the earth; more on this as it becomes confirmed. All booked
shows are still go, but things might have to change soon. To Wong Foo, thanks for nothing!
Alright, still gearing up for the next three, yes THREE White Denim releases! Much appreciation to all those holding

three upcoming vinyl platters, hold tight! Also, I should mention that there is only one
copy left of the Nice Nice single! Once word is fully spread, don't be surprised to see
some guilty ex-hipsters hocking it on eBay. It's a great record!
Not much in the way of news. Pearls and Brass, Air Conditioning and Popular Shapes are all
playing plenty of live shows, all of which come highly recommended. Aquarius Records picked up some White Denim product, looking
forward to reading their reviews. In more somber news, My Name Is Rar Rar have called it a day.

Happy New Year y'all! Now that we're all back in the swing of things and ten million Christmas
trees are rotting somewhere, it's time to get down in our stain-resistant slacks.
I'm excited to tell you that Air Conditioning will be releasing a full-length CD on Level Plane
in the coming months. I've heard the material, trust me, so many heads are going to be blown
by the mental milkshake of Air Conditioning. 2004 is their year!
To catch you up on the upcoming White Denim waxpile:
The Pay Toilets 12" will hopefully hit shelves and basements in March. It's like when you meet some
crazy guy in the mall parking lot, and you laugh to cover up the fact that you're totally scared
of the dude. That's Pay Toilets. As expected, colored vinyl and other specialities will be provided
with this record.
The Menstruation Sisters single: as mysterious as the Sisters themselves! Frequent touring by members
of the Menstruation Sisters has slowed production, but it's all good. This record is going to eat needles
like a fiend, and will be severely limited in press. I'm guessing an April or May release date, but who can
really say. Maybe it already came out? With Menstruation Sisters, nothing surprises me.
In previously unannounced news, White Denim will be releasing a 7" single by Popular Shapes! This Northwest
group has a riotous sound somewhere between Street Trash, A Frames and the Homosexuals, thrashy and potent yet covered
in honey. Kinda like wearing your deceased uncle's suitjacket, a good fit, but not. This will be a split
release with Hate the Eighties Records, and should be an excellent, full-quality shebang. They're recording
in February, production should begin not long after, so look for this in early Spring. Popular Shapes
are making plans for a US tour in June and July, I'll post dates as they are created! So excited for this. Until
then, I recommend checking out their incredible debut LP 'Bikini Style', released on On On Switch Records.
Alright, I guess that'll do for now. Pissed Jeans are getting our act together, expect demos in the catalog soon.
Even with all these negative dudes walking around, it's a good time to be alive, isn't it?
